Hi! I’m Mallory.
Mallory is an unapologetic generalist focused on amplifying stories and solutions for a more just world. She spent a number of years in the nonprofit sector before earning a Master’s in sociology and teaching at the community college level. She is skilled in communications, partnerships, research, analysis, and writing. Recently, she has added web and design skills to the repertoire as a valuable and practical tool for communication and community-building.

Mallory also created Careist, an online community and resource platform for dementia caregivers in Minnesota.
Check it out–and pass it along!

After undergrad, Mallory sought the hands-on and mission-driven work offered through an AmeriCorps program called GreenCorps. Here, she was matched with and placed at a nonprofit site called Gardening Matters. She loved it so much, she renewed her AmeriCorps term and was lucky enough to be hired on as staff after her second term ended.
In those five years, she wore many programmatic hats and learned an incredible amount about working in community.

After working in the nonprofit space, and interning in D.C. in a food & ag think tank, Mallory decided higher ed was her next path.
At the University of Miami, she earned her Master’s in Sociology, concentrating on Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration.

Mallory taught sociology at the community college level, enjoying only one semester in person before transitioning her classes online during the pandemic.
Dissatisfied with the edtech tools supplied to her, she proudly hacked a more interactive video process to increase her students’ engagement and outcomes. She also painstakingly revamped her curriculum in the Sociology of Death and Dying to be less euro-centric and more representative of the global majority, who comprised a majority of Mallory’s student body.

Mallory and her wife found themselves in a caregiving role for a handful of years, which shaped their lives tremendously. After a lot of learning, struggling, and dancing, Mallory combined her professional skills and personal experience to launch Careist, a new platform for dementia caregivers in Minnesota.

On a day off, Mallory loves to spend time outdoors with her wife and their doggie child, whether that’s biking leisurely around town, lounging in a park, or hiking some more challenging terrain (ok, not that challenging).
As a lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity, Mallory always has a rotation of research interests and hobbies, including: tiny homes, permaculture, cooking, mixology, surfskating, DIY skincare, interior design, learning Swedish, salsa dancing, etc. etc. etc.
